Walk Description

Imagine you could zoom in on a distant bird song and hear all notes clearly without distractions. Experience the sounds of nature in an immersive sound adventure! This inclusive acoustic experience is designed for everyone and is especially suitable for people with reduced hearing. During the walk, we will help you filter out the background noise of everyday life, recognise common and rare local species by sound, and connect what you hear with what you see. We will use specialised microphones, headphones and assistive listening equipment to amplify and bring sounds closer to us. We provide binoculars to watch birds up close and link their calls to a bird's size, appearance, and behaviour. Many people find that once they start listening, hearing birds become a superpower that amplifies the pleasure and chances of seeing wildlife. While apps can be helpful, this walk focuses on building confidence beyond the screen. You’ll learn simple techniques to trust your own ears, notice subtle patterns, and recognise birds naturally wherever you go. By the end of the experience, nature reserves, parks, streets, and gardens will feel more alive and full of details you hadn’t noticed before. Join us every Sunday morning starting from January 2027 to discover both the science and the magic behind the songs we enjoy! In the meantime, join our 'Discover Birdsong: Guided Nature Walk'? You'll practice recognizing key elements of birdsong while exploring our favourite local nature spots. Walks run in most weather (except heavy rain and wind). Dress warmly, wear waterproof walking shoes, bring a waterproof coat, and pack water. This session is part of our Winter Adventures Programme, offering a range of nature and science experiences! Join multiple sessions and save between 10% and 25%, with greater discounts available when booking up to 5 experiences.
