Walk Description

What if your walk to work, school, or the shops felt a little more like a wildlife adventure? So much beauty is hidden in plain sight! As we go about our daily lives, going to work or school, waiting for the bus or trying to make an appointment there are countless wonders surrounding us. A rich world of birdsong surrounds us - blue tits feeding their young, song thrushes delivering their jazzy tunes, and goldfinches filling the air with bright, musical calls. This guided urban birdsong walk invites you to slow down, listen intently, and reconnect with the living soundtrack of nature. Whether you’re new to birds, curious about nature, or hoping to sharpen your listening skills, this experience is designed to be welcoming and accessible. No prior knowledge is needed - just curiosity. • During the walk, we will help you notice and separate birdsong from the background noise of everyday life, recognise some of the most common local species by sound, and connect what you hear with what you see. • Binoculars will be provided so you can watch birds up close and link their calls to birds size, appearance, and behaviour. Many people find that once they start listening, hearing birds becomes just as rewarding as spotting them. While apps can be helpful, this walk focuses on building confidence beyond the screen. You’ll learn simple ways to trust your own ears, notice patterns, and recognise birds naturally wherever you go. • By the end, parks, streets, and gardens may feel more alive, full of details you hadn’t noticed before. And if you’d like to continue the conversation, you’re welcome to join us afterwards for a meal at Royston’s Thai Rack, where we can share stories about the science, folklore, and magic behind the songs we’ve been enjoying. Dress for the season, wear comfortable walking shoes, and pack a waterproof layer along with plenty of water. Our community pricing model: • Fund Community Impact: Every full-price adult ticket directly funds nature-based programmes for local communities, turning your attendance into a life-changing opportunity for someone in need. • Choose 'Concession': Select this option if you are over 65, or if the full price creates a barrier to attending. • Nature Is For Everyone: If you need additional financial support, reach out via our Connect page for custom community-rate bookings. We are here to help you find your way into nature. *Children under 5 Free. Children under 16 to be accompanied by an adult
