Walk Description

Learn to identify local birds, butterflies, and wildflowers while painting some of your favourite species, including robins, pasqueflowers, and chalkhill blues! Join us every Monday from 4pm to 5:30pm at The Old Schoolhouse, Royston, for a relaxing and creative nature-inspired session. Each week, we'll begin with an introduction to our featured subject, whether it's a bird, flower, or butterfly, exploring its key features, sounds, habitat, behaviour, and place in art and culture. Everything you need is provided, including paints, brushes, palettes, and ceramic ornaments ready for painting! We'll engage multiple senses as we discover the wonders of nature before creating and painting a beautiful ceramic bird or butterfly to take home. Weather and light permitting we can do a short exploration in the Priory Memorial Gardens to observe our subjects in their natural environment and listen out for the sounds of nature. We will equip our adventurers with binoculars to bring faraway subjects closer. The sessions are suitable for adults, children, or families attending together. If there is enough interest, we can also arrange sessions exclusively for adults or children. Come and experience the magic of nature through art, creativity, and exploration! This session is part of our Autumn-Winter Adventures Programme, which offers a range of nature and science experiences designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and connection with the natural world. Join multiple sessions and save between 10% and 25% when booking up to five experiences. Dress for the season, wear comfortable waterproof walking shoes, and pack a waterproof layer along with plenty of water! Our community pricing model: • Fund Community Impact: Every full-price adult ticket directly funds nature-based programmes for local communities, turning your attendance into a life-changing opportunity for someone in need. • Choose 'Concession': Select this option if you are over 65, or a student, or if the full price creates a barrier to attending. • Nature Is For Everyone: If you need additional financial support, reach out via our Connect page for custom community-rate bookings. We are here to help you find your way into nature. * Little ones under 5 join for free with any adult ticket! Children under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult.
