Wonders of the Therfield Heath
Discover the miracles of the local flora and fauna
Walk Description
Join us for a 2 hour adventure responsibly exploring the Therfield Heath and the Fox Covert nature reserve! In a fast-paced world, nature offers a common language. Whether it’s a grandparent pointing out a wildflower they remember from childhood or a child discovering a butterfly for the first time, this walk is about building a bridge between our past and our future. This isn't just a regular walk - it's a chance to share stories, pass down knowledge, and see the world through a different set of eyes while exploring one of Hertfordshire’s most vital natural sanctuaries. During the walk we will slow down and engage all of senses to reconnect with the natural world: • Look out for the masters of the air - red kites, swifts and kestrels. • Smell the wonderful wildflowers of the chalk grassland. • Listen for the song of skylarks singing as they fly. • Feel the breeze while soaking in the amazing views. • Taste a full English breakfast at the Heath Café or enjoy an improvised picnic. Bring your old or new camera to capture some amazing wildlife and light! Binoculars are provided as well as the opportunity to read or listen to a bird poem celebrating nature's temple and its residents. Dress for the season, wear comfortable walking shoes, and pack a waterproof layer along with plenty of water. *Choose Concession if you are over 65 or the cost of the full price ticket limits your ability to attend the event. Children under 5 Free. Children under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult.
